7 travel essentials for international travel

So when you desire to live long, you should travel more. Life’s finer treasures are really too few, so you need to gather them all and live your life to the fullest. In this discourse, you need to travel.”

At present people are intending to travel more, that too across borders. International trips are gaining momentum. Being an international travel consultant, I will suggest a few essentials to be remembered while intending an international trip. They are—

  1. Plan early and book the flight tickets.
At present airlines are adopting dynamic pricing strategies, so you need to plan early to take this advantage.
  2. Select the destination not only as per your bucket list but also after a careful consideration of the world scenario, destination climate, rituals and holidays. For example, do not travel to Bali on their auspicious Nyepi Day.
  3. Another important and undeniable aspect of international travel is visa.
Though, at present we have many visa-free countries for Indian passports, ETAs as well as e-visas. But many prominent destinations have visa requirements and essentials. For example, for USA visa, you need to undergo wait times and two-time visit for visa processing—once for biometry and the second time at the Consulate for the formalities.
  4. Medical Insurance is a must.
We have a taboo for insurance, but to me, for every international travel, insurance is mandatory. It provides a shield against everything starting from accidents, illness, flight cancellations etc.
  5. Stay connected to your base.
So SIM card or international roaming is essential for all your international trips. All our phones have dual SIMs at present and many countries have e-SIM option. So my take is, do your international roaming from home and if needed for your Facebook Lives / Google Map, take a data pack when you reach the destination.
  6. During your packing discourse, do not forget the prescriptions while you are putting your medicine kit
(the most essential travel companion). At the destination you travel, the Customs can take off your medicines if there is no prescription.
  7. International travels should be smart and easy.
Luggage should be up to date—4 wheeled suitcases for easy strolling, faux leather backpacks for lightweight journeys. They look stylish too and if you are brand conscious, you can choose one brand and carry on.
